Health Clinic For Terry Hope Centre Orphans

Four clinical officers from Malteser International visited the Terry Hope Centre in mid December to carry out medical examinations on all of the orphans.

Most of these children had never received any professional medical treatment before and the most common ailments were worms and skin diseases

Wife of the Kenya Prime Minister Visits the Terry Hope Centre

We were delighted to receive a visit from the wife of the Kenyan Prime Minister, Mrs Ida Odinga.

She was driven into the slum with a police escort and you can imagine the delight on the orphan’s faces when she leapt out of the car clapping and dancing to their songs! She brought with her boxes and boxes of ‘goodie goodies’ and some especially nutritious vegetable porridge.

Remembrance Day

The Embassy of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta was invited to lay a wreath at the Remembrance Day Service at the War Cemetery in Nairobi This was a real honour and we accepted with pride. It was a beautiful service, led this year by the Sri Lanka Embassy.

Malteser International Provides Emergancy Aid to Ease Effects of El Nino

About 20 million people in the Horn of Africa are dependent on food aid as a severe drought spreads over the region. In Kenya, around one third of the population is suffering from hunger and diseases related to malnutrition and lack of potable water.
