First official embassy event this year

Jul 20, 2013

The Holy Mass was held on 12th June 2013 at the Consolata Shrine, Westlands, Nairobi and we were honoured to have His Eminence John Cardinal Njue preside over the mass and H.E. Archbishop Charles Daniel Balvo, Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya, as co-celebrant. In attendance were also religious from the Consolata community and Fr. Daniel Bertea, the parish priest, acted as the Master of Ceremony.

Holy Mass was joyous and colourful with the flags of the Order, of the Vatican and of Kenya proudly carried by three flagbearers, namely Mario Abate, Sam Mattock and Leandro Agosta.

In addition to official dignitaries, the Embassy invited 850 children from the Consolata School to Holy Mass followed by a picnic lunch in the church gardens. Before entering church, the children were presented with a small token of appreciation (in the form of a little red pouch in which a pen was included) that was kindly presented by the two new Counsellors of the Embassy, Dr. Maria Enrica Bonatti Mameli and Dr. Laura Colnaghi Calissoni, and Mrs. Francesca Bisleti.

For the Ambassador, this Holy Mass symbolized the starting point of his diplomatic career that will consist in carrying out humanitarian work for the Order of Malta.  He will be fully supported and assisted by the Embassy’s First Counsellor, Dr. Franco De Paoli and also by Marquis Dino Bisleti, an old time personal friend and a valued active supporter of the Order.

This special day was concluded in the evening by a reception held at the Embassy residence, beautifully organized by Mrs. Marinella De Paoli, spouse of the First Counsellor. Among the invited guests were  Heads of Diplomatic Missions and International Organizations accredited to the Republic of Kenya, as well as friends and supporters of the Order of Malta.
